Annual Report

Message from
Pastor Chris

In review of the 2024-2025 ministry year, I thank God for His blessing and favour upon us. I believe that 2 Corinthians 9:8 is reflective of what we have experienced as a church. The Apostle Paul wrote, “God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things and at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

This year, we said goodbye to Pastors Daniel & Christalyn as they accepted the invitation to pastor New Life Church in Milton. We also welcomed two new pastors to the WPA staff. Pastor Nelly Latchman joined as the Young Adults Pastor in May 2025. We look forward to seeing her build inroads into our universities and colleges. Pastor James Kirimi joined as Missions & Outreach Pastor in June 2025. We look forward to sending more teams to partner with more global workers and missional organizations locally that seek the welfare of our cities. We also celebrated the retirement of Pastor Sharon after many years of faithful ministry at WPA. We appreciate and honour her and are so glad that she remains a part of our WPA church family.

In terms of the formation of theological vitality at WPA, this past year I preached on Faith Foundations, 1 & 2 Kings, Speak Jesus, Romans, Last Words, Beloved and the Minor Prophets. I look forward to the preaching series on The Pursuit, Numbers, Down to Earth and Afterlife. I want to encourage all of you to become active users of our WPA Bible Engagement App. A lot of work goes into putting this resource together. I believe alignment is essential, and this is one area that needs more work. Thank you to all those who are using the prayer and testimony features. We want to support and celebrate each other. We are working on a refresh of the app design this coming year.

In terms of the formation of spiritual vitality at WPA, we are making a shift from Corporate Prayer on Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 am to a week of Church-Wide Fasting and Prayer from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. My desire is to see half of our congregation attend at least one night. As we look forward, please join us from November 3-7, February 9-13, and May 11-15. We are also continuing to host Holy Spirit Nights where we value our Pentecostal distinctives and desire to take time to cultivate a culture where the fruit, the gifts and the baptism of the Holy Spirit are emphasized and experienced. We desire to see Holy Spirit Nights and Church Wide Fasting & Prayer as the pillar events in the life of our church.

In terms of the formation of missional vitality at WPA, we have empowered those trained in fivefold ministry to participate in what we call “WPA Teams”. This prayerful and Spirit-led collaboration was commissioned to address the topics of food insecurity, the immigration crisis, the housing crisis and employment crisis that are affecting some in our congregation and the wider KW community. We are making slow and steady progress and hope to establish and fund initiatives in this next ministry year. We want to make a lasting impact on our community!

The All-African Event was a highlight of this year! We celebrated the four corners of Africa, listened and learned and ate and danced. Thank you to all those who helped us organize this event and represented their countries. Our desire is to become a communal people so that we can become a missional people. If we cannot love and do life with the people within WPA, how will we ever love and do life with the people outside of WPA? Please plan to join us on Sunday, May 31st, for our All-Asian Event at Bingeman’s.

As I commence my tenth year as Lead Pastor at WPA, I look forward to leading the church into becoming a healthy church, a model church and a global church. It is a privilege to serve you, shepherd you and communicate God’s Word to you.

All Africa Event

Our All-African event was a memorable evening at WPA! We are grateful to God that we could connect and fellowship with every one of our brothers and sisters from Eritrea, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe. It was a great experience to learn more from the diverse African cultures represented. The food, the dances, the songs, and the presentations on each of these special countries—absolutely amazing!!

Let us continue to pray for God’s kingdom to expand in these nations. May God continually bless our fellowship with one another as a multiethnic church family so that we become a missionally vital people on a global level.

Mission
Report

Our Missions Report can be broken into two parts: Global Partnership & Local Outreach. In alignment with the PAOC, we prioritize reaching the least-reached people groups in the world and the most vulnerable people groups in the world.

This past year, we partnered with five global workers: Adrian & Sharon Thomas in the Dominican Republic, Matt & Erica in a RAN Context, King of Kings in Modi’in, Israel, Ashray Children @ Risk in India, Felix & Ceceilia Chiriseri and Margaret Pfeiffer in Guatemala. As we move into the 2025-2026 year, we will be ending our partnership with King of Kings Israel and taking on two new partners: Jorge & Jacinta Melo in the Azores, Portugal and Luka and Cassandra Fartek in Slovenia. Europe is such a large continent, and life and ministry in Western Europe are very different from life in Eastern Europe.

Pastor Kathy & Pastor Sharon successfully led a short-term mission team to Guatemala. Pastor Chris and Pastor Daniel visited the church in Fort Severn, Ontario. Pastor Kim successfully led a short-term mission team to South Africa & Botswana. We praise God for his protection and provision. In this new ministry year, Pastor Anjan has already successfully led a short-term construction team to Fort Severn. Pastor Chris & Pastor James will be travelling to visit our RAN workers, Pastor James and Pastor Joshua will lead a short-term mission to the Azores, and Pastor Andrew & Pastor Nelly will lead a short-term mission to Slovenia.

This past year, we partnered with Compass Refuge Center, Ray of Hope, The Pregnancy Center, The Ontario Gleaners and the Afghan Church of Waterloo. As we move into the 2025-2026 year, we are adding New Life Prison Ministries, based in London, to our partnerships. They offer over 90 free Bible courses to inmates, ex-offenders, their families and chaplains across Canada. We will continue to provide mission spotlights throughout the year that explain the impact, further educate our congregation about the needs and provide opportunities for congregants to serve.

In regard to one-time gifts, we were blessed to give $93,681 to global workers and local partners as encouragement for the good work they are doing. In regard to crisis response, we were blessed to give $10,500 in response to the earthquake in Myanmar.

Friends, all of this was possible because of your generous support. Please continue giving to missions at WPA!

Short-Term Mission

South Africa Trip

The short-term mission team to South Africa consisted of seven WPA members who partnered with PAOC Global Workers, Felix and Cecelia Cheriseri. Their goal was to spiritually build up other churches, ministries, and believers who were doing the Lord’s hard work. At times, the team felt a little like the Apostle Paul as they empowered, encouraged, and affirmed the good work they saw across Southern Africa. They had the privilege of ministering in churches in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Sezela, and KwaMhlanga, and even ventured into the desert of Morelane, Botswana.

They were collectively moved by the power of deep connection and partnership within the body of Christ, even across countries, seas, cultures, and languages. During their 12 days of ministry, they ministered to 150 adults at Temple of Grace in Pretoria, 130 adults and 220+ children in KwaMhlanga, 45 adults and 80 children and teens in Sezela, and 300+ kids, youth, YAs, adults, and seniors in Morelane—a total of over 925 individuals. Every church, ministry, and believer they encountered welcomed them with open arms, ready to testify, praise, and partner in ministry together. As they equipped, empowered, and encouraged, they were encouraged all the more. God did a great work not only through them, but also within each of them.

Short-Term Mission

Guatemala Trip

The multi-generational team that visited Guatemala on March Break was transformed by their time of ministry in this beautiful country. They felt privileged to partner with a local pastor, Veronica, as they shared the gospel in numerous local schools and encouraged students to visit her church. Their lives were changed as they spent time with this pioneering pastor and the children and teenagers of Guatemala. They were honoured to meet with some of the children that WPA sponsors through Childcare Plus and pray with them and their families. Although they were transformed and encouraged on this trip, the missionaries, pastor, and even their bus driver shared how they were greatly encouraged by how the youth and young adults from WPA serve Jesus. The Lord is moving in the hearts of young people in Guatemala but also in the hearts of young people at WPA!
