2024
Annual Report
Message from
Pastor Chris
In review of the 2023-2024 ministry year, I am reminded of the summary statement found in Acts 9:31 — “Then the church… enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.” I want to testify that it is God who continues to build this church and bless this church.
This year, we welcomed two new pastors to the WPA staff. Pastor Michael Okunlola joined as Marriage & Family Pastor in January 2024. This was a new position created to help bolster the marriages and strengthen the families of our church. Pastor Anjan Sunar joined as the Worship Pastor in July 2024. We look forward to experiencing powerful times of worship under his leadership. With the full complement of staff, we are able to move forward into the future that God has for our church.
Throughout the ministry year, 300 people completed our 5Q Class, which is based on fivefold ministry (apostolic, prophetic, evangelistic, shepherding and teaching). Our goal is for a critical mass of 400 people to be mobilized for missional activity by the end of 2025. If you attend WPA, we urge you to sign up for the next 5Q class taking place from Jan 20, 2025 to Mar 3, 2025. We firmly believe that fivefold ministry is essential to understanding your role and function in the vision of WPA. The church leadership (pastors, deacons and elders) have also dedicated several weeks to fasting and prayer, seeking God for wisdom and direction concerning a new missional initiative. Please pray for clarity and confirmation of God’s will and plan.
I want to take a moment to remind you where we have been and tell you where we are going. This past year, we studied five biblical books together: Strong & Courageous (The Book of Joshua), Sincerely John (1-3 John), and The Sovereignty of God (The Book of Daniel). We also journeyed through five topical series: Reasons for the Season, 100%, Us, This Means That and Faith Foundations. As we look ahead, we are planning to study 1 & 2 Kings (Elijah & Elisha) and Romans. We are also planning a series called “Speak Jesus,” which is about how to share the gospel in a Canadian context.
As I commence my ninth year as Lead Pastor at WPA, I look forward to the “new things” that God will do IN US and THROUGH US. It is a privilege to serve you, shepherd you and communicate God’s Word to you.

Mission
Report
Our missional vitality can be broken into two paths: local outreach and global partnerships. In alignment with the PAOC, we prioritize reaching the least reached people groups in the world and the most vulnerable people groups in the world.
As we continue to diversify our mission support, we have maintained our commitments to five global workers and projects: Adrian & Sharon Thomas (Dominican Republic), Felix & Cecelia Chiriseri (South Africa), M & E (Asia), Ashray Children at Risk (India) and King of Kings (Israel). After several years, our financial support of Darren & Patty McCrae (Colombia) and Mark & Kim Steinfield (Spain) has come to an end. As we move into the next fiscal year, we have taken on Margaret Pfeiffer (Guatemala) and Ahmad Ghaljaee (Afghanistan/KW diaspora) with monthly support. In regards to our mission pipeline, Pastor Daniel led a mission’s trip to the Dominican Republic in May 2024. Next year, Pastor Kathy will be leading a mission trip to Guatemala in March 2025, and Pastor Kim will be leading a mission trip to South Africa in the Summer of 2025.
In addition to our fixed financial commitments, we also have had the opportunity to partner with others locally and globally with financial gifts. Here is a list of how we have stewarded financial gifts that came in above and beyond our budget.
In regards to one-time gifts, we gave over $130,000:
- Borewell Project (Punjab, India)
- Pastor Ahmad Ghaljaee + Christmas Outreach (Kitchener-Waterloo)

Friends, all of this was possible because of your generous support.
Short-Term Mission
Dominican Trip
Our multi-generation team from WPA did an excellent job representing our church and serving our ministry partners Every Day Ministry Canada (Adrian & Sharon Thomas) abroad. They brought their best and served with flexibility and great attitudes in a hot and ever-changing environment. Our team participated in a wide range of ministries, including leading church services, door-to-door evangelism, community outreach, inspiring ERDO ChildCARE Plus personnel, helping to construct a new church building, university and young adults sessions, literacy development at two rural elementary schools and much more.
