2025-26

Annual Report

Message from
Pastor Chris

In reviewing the 2025-2026 ministry year, we made progress towards becoming a healthy church, a model church and a global church. In 1 Thessalonians 1:7-8, Paul commended the church with these words: “And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere.”

This year, we had the pleasure of welcoming Pastor Josh Alvarez to the pastoral team as our new Creative Pastor. We were also informed of Paul Masson’s intention to retire after 18 years of ministry at WPA, which we will celebrate on Nov 1st.

In terms of the formation of theological vitality at WPA, this past year, the preaching team and I preached on The Pursuit, The Book of Numbers, Down to Earth, After Life, The Book of Matthew, Future Focused Church, Real Fruit, Halos & Horns and The Book of Psalms. I look forward to preaching the series on Above All, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Awe & Wonder and Honour Culture. For several years, we have utilized our WPA Bible Engagement App and have 1,150 users. A lot of work goes into creating each initiative and I want to encourage you to come into alignment by joining us in our book studies. Keep on posting your prayer requests, testimonies and dialoguing by using the threads.

In terms of the formation of spiritual vitality at WPA, we have been gathering for Church-Wide Fasting and Prayer four times throughout the year. During each week, people are given an opportunity to lead in prayer concerning specific prayer points. A healthy church is a PRAYING church! As we look forward, please note these dates and join us on the weeks of Nov 9-13, 2026, Feb 8-12, 2027 and May 10-14, 2027 from 6:30-7:30 pm. We continue to host Holy Spirit Nights, emphasizing our Pentecostal distinctives and desire to take time to cultivate a culture where spirit gifts are used and Spirit baptism is experienced. This past year, we had four guest speakers minister to us on the symbols of the Holy Spirit: Pastor Jeff Johnston from Calvary Cambridge (fire), Pastor Tracy Wells from Freedom in Christ Kitchener (wind), Pastor Jonathan Bjorkman from Bethel Hamilton (water) and Pastor Greg Williams (dove) from Cedarview Paris. I want to take a moment to celebrate the beautiful friendship we have with other PAOC churches. In particular, Freedom in Christ has joined us for all four Holy Spirit Nights this past year and will continue to do so this coming year.  We will have several guest speakers who are PAOC credential holders from within WPA. As we look forward, please note these dates and join us on Dec 6 with John Pellowe, Mar 21 with Sharon Lavender and June 27 with Florence Juma.

In terms of the formation of missional vitality at WPA, we have empowered those trained in fivefold ministry to participate in what we call “WPA Teams”. WPA Nourish (food insecurity) and WPA Matrix (unemployment) have both launched successfully. If you have been trained in fivefold ministry through our 5Q class, we would love to onboard you in one of these two areas. We are continuing to work on other initiatives like immigration and housing as the Lord leads.

The All-Asian Event was a wonderful evening of fellowship over food and learning from presentations. We highlighted Afghanistan, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and the region of the Middle East. Thank you to all those who helped us organize this event and represented their countries. Please plan to join us on Sunday, May 30th for our All-Central/South American Event at Bingemans.

As I commence my 11th year at WPA, I want to thank you for your continued trust in my leadership and your faithfulness in attending, serving and giving.

All Asian Event

On May 31, 2026, we hosted our “All-Asian Event” at Bingemans Conference Center with 800 people in attendance. Throughout the evening, we were captivated by classical performances from sitarist Chris Hale. To refresh your memory, we sampled kabuli pulao & mantu from Afghanistan, manakeesh & taboulleh from the Middle East, momo & sel roti from Nepal, idly and chicken tikka kebab from India, kothu roti & watalappam from Sri Lanka, and pancit & lumpia from the Philippines. During the presentations, we learned about many aspects of culture, but most importantly about how Christianity reached these people groups and places. We celebrate all of our Asian brothers and sisters at WPA and thank them for serving us this year!

Mission
Report

Part of our missional vitality is our emphasis on Global Partnership & Local Outreach. We prioritize reaching the least reached people groups in the world and the most vulnerable people groups in the world. This was a hallmark year, with over $450,000 given towards missions! Thank you for your offerings.

This past year, we increased our partnership to eight global workers: Adrian & Sharon Thomas (Dominican Republic), Felix & Cecelia Chiriseri (South Africa), Luka & Cassandra Fartek (Slovenia), Jorge & Jacinta Melo (Portugal), Margaret Pfeiffer (Guatemala), Ahmad Ghaljaee (Afghan Diaspora), M & E (RAN) and P.W. (India). As we move into the 2026-2027 year, we will maintain these partnerships for another year.

We were able to send several short-term missions teams to visit these partners. In August 2025, Pastor Kim led a team to South Africa, also doing ministry in Botswana. In June 2026, Pastor James & Pastor Nelly led a young adult team to Slovenia. As we prepare for the 2026-2027 year, Pastor Chris already led a team to Fort Severn; Pastor Michael is currently leading a marriage-focused trip to the Dominican Republic; Pastor Kim will lead a team to South Africa; Pastor Joshua and Pastor James will lead a team to the Azores, Portugal.

This past year, we partnered with Compass Refuge Center, Ray of Hope, The Pregnancy Center, The Ontario Gleaners and New Life Prison Ministries. We will continue to provide mission spotlights throughout the year that explain the impact, further educate our congregation about the needs of our community and provide opportunities for congregants to serve.

In regard to
one-time gifts, we were blessed to give $234,010  to global workers and local partners as an encouragement for the good work they are doing.

In regard to special gifts, we were blessed to give $60,515 to ministries like Master’s College & Seminary, Heart of Jesus Bible School, Fort Severn, Church Plants and A Better Tent City.

In regard to crisis response, we were blessed to give $35,961 to Hurricane Melissa relief and Venezuela earthquake relief.

Friends, all of this was possible because of your generous support. Let’s continue to give to missions.

Short-Term Mission

South Africa Trip

From July 31 – August 13, 2025, Pastor Kim led a team of seven congregants to partner with Felix and Ceceila Chiriseri in South Africa and Botswana to partner with a number of churches and developing ministries. The mandate of this trip was to equip, empower and encourage. The team met with Temple of Grace in Kempton Park, S.A., to partner with this church on leadership development and vision planning. They saw two salvations during the Sunday service where Pastor Kim preached and the team shared testimonies. They taught leadership seminars & kids ministry in Kwamhlanga, S.A., they provided leadership training, ministry development and visioning seminars in Botswana. They also ministered to hundreds of “bush children” and helped commission new pastors for ministry in a remote desert village in Botswana. In Durban, S.A., they ministered to a 100+ year-old congregation, seeking to empower their leadership to use every congregation member to build the church and share the gospel. Finally, in Seleza, S.A., they had the opportunity to minister to and encourage a new church with a young, zeal-filled pastor seeking to impact his whole village for the Lord.

Every place they set their feet, they knew the Spirit of the Lord was there. They were collectively moved by the power of deep connection and partnership within the body of Christ, even across countries, seas, cultures and languages. Every church ministry, and believer we encountered welcomed them with open arms ready to testify, praise, and partner in ministry.

Short-Term Mission

Fort Severn Trip

From August 11–18, 2025, Pastor Anjan led a team of six congregants to serve Fort Severn Pentecostal Assembly in Fort Severn, ON, through a building renovation project and ministry. The primary purpose was to improve the church building. The team renovated the floor and ceiling, repaired the building’s base support, installed winter heating units under the floor, painted walls and built external stairs. In addition to the main project, they addressed several smaller repair needs as they arose. It was encouraging to see how God enabled the team to accomplish even more than initially anticipated. What began as a renovation project became a meaningful opportunity to serve the local congregation. Witnessing the church members’ response to the before-and-after results was a true highlight. Ministry extends beyond the pulpit or worship platform—sometimes it looks like carrying tools, rebuilding, fixing what is broken and willingly serving wherever there is a need.

Short-Term Mission

Slovenia Trip

Pastor Nelly and Pastor James led a young adult team on a short-term mission trip serving alongside Global Workers Luka and Cassandra Fartek in Ptuj, Slovenia, to host a Faith-Based English Camp.

In Slovenia, while many people would consider themselves Christians (nominally), the view and experience of faith, church and religion isn’t positive. The concepts of grace, forgiveness, and unconditional love are very challenging to accept, as there is a held cultural worldview and standard of “working to earn.” Over the week of camp, between lessons on conversational English, crafts and games, the team taught devotional lessons on the gospel to 75 students and 14 local Slovenian translators that led to deeper conversations about these very topic. By the end of camp, more than 20 campers made decisions to follow Jesus! Since the team has come home, they’ve heard testimonies that some of the teen/young adult translators have made commitments of faith and have been attending Izvir Evangelical Pentecostal Church.
