Reading your bible is an essential part of every Christians faith. The Bible is our compass, it teaches us our history and tells us the Truth of God’s ways and how we should live our lives. As a church, WPA began a renewed emphasis on reading our bible this week and we’ve put together three simple ways that you as an individual can be involved in biblical engagement with your church.
Scribe | Memorization | Reflect
This one is not for the faint of heart. You’ll be writing out the entire book of Acts. We’ve put together a journal that you can use, it’s 100% free and you can pick yours up during office hours at the church or on Sunday mornings during church in the Foyer.
For those want to avoid the hand cramps but have no problem with some brain strain we’ve put together a Flip-book for you. We’re challenging you to learn each block of scripture, one per week. Just like the Scribe journals, the Memorization flip-books are available at no cost at the office during work hours or on Sunday mornings.
Maybe neither of the first two options were for you. We are all wonderfully and uniquely made by God. If the first two options didn’t fit your learning style that we invite you to join the conversation on Facebook. Monday through Thursday we post a section of scripture from the Book of Acts and Reflect on it together as a community. Simply read the scripture and let us know what stood out to you and why. Comment on other peoples post and don’t be shy, we can all benefit from each other’s insights.

The book of Proverbs is a treasure trove of wisdom and insight. By reading through it, memorizing the scriptures within and meditating on the subjects talked about in the chapters we can apply that wisdom and insight to our everyday lives. We have put together a 40 Day devotional that takes you through the book of Proverbs. Throughout the 40-days you will read devotionals put together by some of the leadership at WPA, write out sections of Proverbs, memorize scripture, reflect on topics and pray. It’s a 40-day journey which you can follow along with your church, friends, and family or just by yourself.

National Volunteer Week is a time when organizations across Canada celebrate the many volunteers and thank them for the generous work they to help those in the communities around them.
WPA is proud to celebrate it’s several hundred volunteers in 2017 who have sacrificed time and effort by taking them all to a Blue Jays game. It’s our small way of saying thank you and showing our appreciation for all that they do.
So a big THANK YOU to the many volunteers of WPA who have poured so much into this church, without volunteers WPA would not be able to operate as well as it does and make the impact that has been made in this community of Waterloo.
On Sunday, January 22 during our morning service Pastor Chris talked about Gifts of the Holy Spirit. You can listen to the message free online here. In the message Pastor Chris encourages us to better understand the relationship we have the Holy Spirit and what role the Holy Spirit plays out in our lives. As a take home, Spiritual Gift tests were made available at the end of the service. If you would like a copy of that test you can pick up a printed copy on Sundays in the foyer at WPA or head over to www.spiritualgiftstest.com and download a copy for yourself.
