Message: “Pilgrimage Psalms” from Pastor Andrew Brown

Pilgrimage Psalms

What do we do when we find ourselves somewhere between where we started and where we hoped we would be? In this week of our Psalms series, Pastor Andrew explores Psalm 130 and the Pilgrim Psalms, songs originally sung on the journey toward Jerusalem. They remind us that God is present in the middle, when prayers seem unanswered and the destination still feels far away. As we cry honestly, remember who God is and learn to wait with expectation, even the difficult parts of our journey can shape us into the people God is calling us to become.

Scripture References: Psalms 130:1-8, Exodus 15:5, Jonah 2:2, Mark 8:33-36, Luke 2:28-32, 2 Corinthians 4:6-11, Revelation 21:5-7, Revelation 22:3-5, Revelation 22:17

What do you pray when life doesn't make sense? How do you worship when your heart is full of joy or full of pain? The Psalms capture the full range of the human emotion and experience—joy and sorrow, confidence and doubt, gratitude and grief. These scripture-songs help us understand how God's people responded to Him and invite us to do the same today. Join us this summer as we explore nine types of psalms and their relevance while navigating life's ups and downs.
