I work with a compleicated system that affects many colleagues and their work. At a meeting to announce a project to make improvements to this system, the attendees were asked to say what they thought if the system now. Most responded with comments ranging from politically correct to cynical. My genuine response was reflected hope and optimism that actually made people smile–and my boss later thanked me and wished she had said something like that. “You’re always so positive!” Was her comment. This has proven to be a really important contribution to all the many meetings and discussions on how to fix or enhance processes that have become frustrating to many of my colleagues.
